Wind
turbines convert wind energy to electricity. With typical Caribbean tradewinds
blowing 10-15 knots or greater most of the year, considering a wind generator
for back up or supplemental power is a viable option. Note the following
benefits:
- Non-polluting
- No dependence on
fossil fuels
- Compliments a solar
power system
- Excellent for remote
applications where access to utility lines is not available or expense
- Steady tradewinds
majority of the year offer free wind fuel
- Excellent back-up
system to alleviate the annoyances of outages
- Reduction of utility
bills
Wind generators have
only a few moving parts and so maintenance is minimal and they operate
automatically. The output from the turbine is fed into the household wiring
at the breaker panel. The house is served simultaneously by the wind turbine
and the utility company. As winds fluctuate, so does the draw or contribution
from the utility.
We represent several manufacturers including BERGEY WINDPOWER and SOUTHWEST
WINDPOWER products. They are quality products with models of various sizes
to suit most household or marine applications.
